Words
have always been a little unstable. Now they are used with an Orwellian plasticity.
Even the most basic political labels are seen through a kaleidoscope:
Unilateral
Liberalism
meant speaking up for the voiceless,
rejecting racial
and sexual discrimination, insisting on the right to free
speech opposing the concept of thought
crime and embracing scientific
progress. It seems that being liberal is not what it one was.
